Cheap Imitation

Cheap imitation of the Ghost Bird series by C. L. Stone, also known as The Academy. *Spoilers* Instead of a water gun fight, it's a laser tag fight. Instead of races in the pool, it's basketball in the pool, and guess who tries to cheat. The phrase "not like other girls" is used and Haley even questions if it's a compliment. There is a character just called "Uncle". The last chapter even switches perspective from Haley to third person with Jackson having a secret conversation. Direct parallels can be drawn between the characters of the Stardust series and the Ghost Bird series. The characters are cheap, empty imitations. The parallels are astounding. Whoever said that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery never heard of copyright laws. If you haven't read the Ghost Bird series and are considering this book, consider the Ghost Bird series instead, it's a wonderful read. If you love the Ghost Bird series, you already read an infinitely better version of this book.

Looking forward to the next book!

I really enjoyed this book, read it all in a day and excitedly awaiting the next installment. It actually reminds me of reverse harem manga. So if you like that vibe this book is def for you! Fast, easy and very enjoyable. Especially love the authors' descriptions of the scenery.

Great people in the story - but ==== where is the story?

would have scored this higher if there was actually more adventure/story here.
Okay - this comes off as if there is some massive secret about Haley's dad keeping her hidden in the mountains for most of her childhood. [SPOILERS] This leads to a dilemma for me as NOTHING EVER is resolved, let alone found out. The whole story seems to dwell on Haley's interaction and subsequent adoption of a herd of guys... all of them hotter than the next and apparently all of them crushing on our young sheltered innocent woman. The book NEVER goes adventuring - beyond shopping with a good looking guy who apparently is a fashion guru. Nothing really comes close to ADVENTURE beyond the house being on fire and being separated from her father. Haley seems very at ease with being sucked into the lives of this troop of guys who pretty much kidnap her and tell her she is going to live with them because her life is in danger... but NEVER is a THREAT issued...
Beyond that, nice writing... I like all the characters - a ton of flirting, but no making out, no picking one of the hot guys as a particular crush over another... if anything it seems that she could be making out with any of them at any time. This would make a great erotica if the story was more 'adult/sexual' natured due to all the awesome crushes involved... beyond that - they are just sexy bodyguards from an unknown threat.
A little annoying how the story doesn't progress beyond who is supposed to body guard her each day. No exaggeration here.
