Where's the photos?

I prefer a cookbook with photos of the food. It helps me to judge what it is supposed to look like. There's hardly any photos in this cookbook. Sorry, Rachael, I love you but not so much this cookbook.

FINALLY!! Rachel has made an amazing cookbook again!

These recipes are Italian inspired creations that if you are Italian, you appreciate her list of ingredients and if you aren't Italian, this will make you understand how typical Italian fare is created. Some of recipes are from her previous books with some new twists (Pasta con Cacio e Pepe for one) but I appreciate the revamp. I like how the sections are broken out so it is easy to peruse all the pastas and soups without flipping around the book. Some of her ingredients are costly and hard to find, but for foodies, that is a perk and she certainly gives substitutions. I have had this book less than 24 hours and already have 5 meals planned out. I also like her desserts section; simple traditional Italian items that many true Italian fans know and love. Brava Rachel!

I love Italian food! And usually on Sundays, I'll put more effort into our supper (during the week we tend to just throw things together). That's why this book caught my eye.

The book starts with an intro about the author growing up Italian and what it means to her.

The chapters are:

* Brunch - including Ratatouille Frittata, Flatbread Pizzas with Greens, Ricotta and Eggs and Croque-Madame Italian-style
* Starters, salads and small bites - including Family-size Caesar, Italian Wings and Mozzarella in Carrozza with Ham
* Soups - including Italian-style Gazpacho, Ministra and White Zuppa Di Pesce
* Pizza, calzones and focaccia - including Naples Pizza Sauce, Focaccia and Hot Soppresata Pizza
* Pasta, gnocchi, polenta and their sauces - including Gnocchi, Walnut Orange Sauce and Short Rib Ragu

About the Author
Jeff Ishee is Farm Director for WSVA radio in Harrisonburg, Virginia. The station was ranked # 1 in the nation in July, 2000 by Arbitron in the "News/Talk" format. Ishee produces and broadcasts more than 1500 "Agribusiness" segments each year for listeners in Virginia and West Virginia.

Ishee also served as VP of the Virginia Farmers Direct Marketing Association and is actively involved in farmers' marketing. He manages two retail farmers' markets in Staunton and Verona, VA and has consulted with numerous organizations on issues relating to public farmers' markets. He also serves on the Environmental Awards Selection Committees of Tyson Foods, Inc. and the VA Poultry Federation.

He is a columnist for the Daily News Leader in Staunton, where he writes a regular column on vegetable gardening. In 1997, Ishee wrote and published his first book entitled "Dynamic Farmers' Marketing: A Guide to Successfully Selling Your Farmers' Market Products."

Ishee received the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation's Agricultural Journalism Award for Broadcasting in 1999 and 2000, as well as an Honorary Degree from the Virginia Future Farmers of America in 2000.

He developed and manages two farm-related web sites.

Jeff Ishee takes you through the day-to-day of planning and preparing to market any and all farm products directly to the consumer. This book is a great guide in getting your ideas together on what to do in your operation or if you are just simply trying to decide if direct marketing is for you.
In working with the industry on a day-to-day basis in Kentucky, this book has been an excellent addition to my resource library.

A Timeless Guide To Farm Enterprise At The Market

Having enjoyed Jeff Ishee's "Virginia Farm Monitor" program via RFD-TV weekly for a while, I was happy to discover his book. It was pricey since it is "out of print" and thus a "collector's" but worth every penny of the price I paid. Common sense and insider tips abound, and if you've ever considered selling your produce or products at a Farmer's Market or even organizing one in your community, this is the "bible" of such enterprise and something you'll need to succeed. The author tells the story in personal terms based on his own experience but also includes a section of responses he got when the book was in "beta" and he put it online for comments by other farmer's market sellers and growers. Therefore, while it is based on his VA experiences, it really applies to all such markets everywhere.

Lynda Katz Wilner, M.S., CCC-SLP, of Successfully Speaking in the Baltimore-Washington, DC area and Marjorie Feinstein-Whittaker, M.S., CCC-SLP, of The Whittaker Group in Boston, are corporate speech trainers and licensed Speech and Language Pathologists. Their joint company, ESL RULES, specializes in designing communication programs for second language speakers and professionals in the business/financial, high technology, and scientific and medical professions. Their goal is to help professionals from diverse cultural backgrounds achieve excellent communication skills so that they may reach their full professional potential. Lynda Katz Wilner has authored Medically Speaking: Accent Modification for the Medical Profession and The Medically Speaking Inventory: An Assessment Tool for Accented Speech. Marjorie Feinstein-Whittaker has co-authored a number of training materials including Mastering Idioms of American English (MIAE), Volumes 1 and 2, with Lorna D. Sikorski. I do not recommend this book for an intro inorganic chemistry course. To begin, there was no color or pictures to help illustrate concepts. The book was written in a confusing manner and would skip steps in conceptual explanations or problems assuming the student already knows it. There are better textbooks out there- find them

A very good textbook for higher level students

I think it is a wonderful book of descriptive inorganic chemistry. Instead of describing various reactions and phenomena, this book tries its best to tell you the principles governing the chemistry of each element in a rather "inorganic" way. I doubt that the beginners will feel it dull as there are no clolor and ony fewer figures in it. For those who have learnt general chemistry or organic chemistry and want to rationalize their observations and knowledges obtained by reciting, this book is strongly recommended for this purpose.

About the Author
Charles E. Van Engen (PhD, Free University of Amsterdam) is the Arthur F. Glasser Professor Emeritus of Biblical Theology of Mission at Fuller Theological Seminary and has taught in the School of Intercultural Studies since 1988. Previously he was a missionary in Mexico, working primarily in theological education. Van Engen also taught missiology at Western Theological Seminary in Michigan and served as president of the General Synod of the Reformed Church in America from 1998 to 1999. He is the founding president and CEO of Latin American Christian Ministries, Inc. Over the past thirty years Van Engen has been involved in extensive preaching, teaching and speaking on mission in Mexico and numerous countries in Latin America, Asia, Africa, the United States, Western Europe and Canada. A prolific author, Van Engen has published many books, chapters in books and papers in both English and Spanish. His wide-ranging publications include God's Missionary People, Mission-on-the-Way: Issues in Mission and You Are My Witnesses: Drawing from Your Spiritual Journey to Evangelize Your Neighbors. He is the coauthor of books such as Evaluating the Church Growth Movement, Communicating God’s Word in a Complex World and Announcing the Kingdom: The Story of God’s Mission in the Bible. He is also the coeditor of several books including Paradigm Shifts in Christian Witness, Evangelical Dictionary of World Missions, Footprints of God: A Narrative Theology of Mission, Missiological Education for the 21st Century, God So Loves the City, The Good News of the Kingdom and Evangelical, Ecumenical and Anabaptist Missiologies in Conversation. Van Engen is involved in the American Society of Missiology, Association of Professors of Mission, the International Association of Mission Studies, the Evangelical Missiological Society, the Academy of Evangelism in Theological Education and the Latin American Theological Fraternity.
